AG Fitch Announces Settlement in Medicaid Fraud Case

(Jackson, Mississippi) Today, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced thatMississippi has joined 37 other States and Puerto Rico in settling kickbackallegations against Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding Company Ltd., asubsidiary wholly owned by pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Inc.. Pfizer hasagreed to pay, on behalf of Biohaven, $59,746,277.54, plus interest, to resolveallegations that Biohaven knowingly submitted or caused to be submitted falseclaims to the Medicaid program and other federal healthcare programs bypaying kickbacks to health care providers in the form of cash, lavish meals, andhonoraria payments to induce them to prescribe Biohaven’s product, NurtecODT, a prescription medication for the treatment of migraine headaches.
