Medicare Compliance Review of The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for Calendar Years 2009 and 2010

The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital (the Hospital) complied with Medicare billing requirements for 139 of the 177 inpatient and outpatient claims we reviewed. However, the Hospital did not fully comply with Medicare billing requirements for the remaining 38 claims, resulting in overpayments totaling $144,000 and potential underpayments totaling $167,000 for calendar years 2009 and 2010.
