Diep Chiropractic Wellness, Inc., Received Unallowable Medicare Payments for Chiropractic Services

Diep Chiropractic Wellness, Inc. (Diep Chiropractic), located in El Monte, California, received unallowable Medicare payments for 93 of the 100 sampled chiropractic services we reviewed. On the basis of our sample results, we estimated that Diep Chiropractic received overpayments of at least $708,000 for calendar years 2010 and 2011. These overpayments occurred because Diep Chiropractic did not have adequate policies and procedures to ensure that chiropractic services billed to Medicare were medically necessary, correctly coded, and adequately documented.
